5th Grade Teacher: We love Keva blocks at our school. For the last few years a few teachers have had single sets in their classrooms and the students have come alive when those blocks were brought out. So, naturally, when a grant opportunity presented itself, I couldn't help but write specifically for a much larger set so that whole classrooms can build in even bigger ways. The materials came promptly and having the bins along with the blocks is making storage very manageable. So far a few classes have had the opportunity to build and explore but we already know this is going to be a big hit throughout the school. If you are considering Keva blocks then keep in mind these are not just toys. Its true that they are something you play with but the cognitive processes involved with block play are vast and well documented. Children (and adults) use so many mental and emotional processes during block play, including: spatial awareness , cooperation, perseverance, algebraic thinking, engineering related problem solving, etc.
Big groups: Good for having kids work in small groups together, the kids love the blocks in art classes
Great for high school: So much potential now with my large set of KEVA planks. Can't wait to get teachers up to speed on creative ways of using these sets in the classroom!
