Easiest Lesson Plans: Think Like an Architect

Appreciate architecture through exploration

I. Intro

  • Help your students become more aware of their surroundings by designing structures with KEVA Planks
  • Show students photos of architectural buildings or skyscrapers for inspiration
  • Notice the design aspects of each building (patterns, shapes, etc)

II. Prompt

  • Build a tower with a repeating pattern and visual intrigue
  • Give students 5-20 minutes to build, depending on available time and number of planks
  • After the time is up, have students walk around the room and see what their peers created
  • Ask students to describe their process
  • Take photos to document their creations

III. Skills Developed

Students will...

  • Notice their built environment
  • Appreciate surrounding beauty
  • Implement ideas
  • Understand balance and symmetry
